The Chicago White Sox have announced the following roster moves affecting the Winston-Salem Dash:

– INF/OF Nick Basto promoted to Double-A Birmingham from Winston-Salem
– OF Adam Engel assigned to Winston-Salem from Double-A Birmingham (number TBA)

The Carolina League’s Player of the Month for April, Basto paced the Minor Leagues in hits and finished second in batting average in his 22 games in April. Overall, Basto posted a .345 batting average with five homers and 18 RBIs in his 30 games with the Dash this season. The former fifth-round pick currently owns a share of fifth place in the Minors in hits with 41.

A CL Year-End All-Star last season, Engel hit .170 with 16 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over 26 games in his first stint at the Double-A level. Last year in Winston-Salem, the former Louisville star posted a .251 batting average and a league-leading 65 stolen bases. MLB Pipeline ranks Engel as the fourth-best prospect in the White Sox system.

The Dash’s roster remains at the Carolina League maximum of 25 players (plus one on the disabled list).
