BANQUET’S PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT WINSTON-SALEM SPORTS FOUNDATION
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (January, 2016) – The Winston-Salem Dash are proud to announce its first Hot Stove Banquet, which will take place on Thursday, February 4, from 6-9 p.m. at the Founders Club inside BB&T Ballpark. Hall of Fame outfielder Andre Dawson will be the keynote speaker, and an impressive selection of sports- and experience-based donations will be available for auction.
Proceeds from the event and the auction will benefit the Winston-Salem Sports Foundation and the Dash’s various charitable efforts. In 2015, the Dash made almost 250 donations totaling more than $100,000 to community organizations. Over the last two years, the Dash have enhanced their charitable influence through the Diamond in the Rough Ballpark Renovation program. The Dash and Flow Chevrolet join forces to renovate a local little league or softball field each year, with Winston-Salem National being the beneficiary in 2015. The Hot Stove Banquet will become one of the most significant fundraising efforts moving forward.
Tickets for the inaugural Hot Stove Banquet will go on sale to Dash season-ticket holders and partners this Wednesday, January 6 (via call-in only), and the general public on Monday, January 11 (via call-in or online order). Each seat is $75 and includes a commemorative banquet ticket, along with a field box seat to the Dash’s Opening Day on April 14. A table of eight, which is available for $600, includes two tickets to a VIP meet-and-greet session with Dawson prior to the start of the program. To reserve your seats, call (336) 714-6877 or visit wsdash.com. This event is likely to sell out quickly.
A 21-year MLB veteran, Dawson earned eight All-Star nods, eight Gold Gloves, the 1977 Rookie of the Year honor and the 1987 Most Valuable Award in the National League. “The Hawk” collected 438 home runs and 2,774 hits with the Montreal Expos (11 years; 1976-86), Chicago Cubs (six years, 1987-92), Boston Red Sox (two years, 1993-94) and Florida Marlins (two years, 1995-96). An 11th-round pick by the Expos in 1975, Dawson received his Hall of Fame call to Cooperstown in 2010 in his ninth year on the ballot.
