Charlotte FC Makes History, But Falls to LA Galaxy in Home Opener 1-0

Frankly Speaking Sports – Audio Recap of Charlotte FC 1-0 home opening loss to LA Galaxy March 5th 2022

On a beautiful night in Charlotte, NC you could feel the magic and excitement of something very special that was about to happen and boy did it ever.

A MLS record crowd of 74,479 loud Charlotte FC fans gathered into Bank of America Stadium for a night they or anyone watching live on FOX will never forget. The record crowd sent chills down everyone
spine by singer in harmony the national anthem to start the game. However, Charlotte FC fell to LA Galaxy 1-0 to kick off their first season in MLS.

“I am the happiest coach in the world” said Charlotte FC Head Coach Miguel Angel Ramirez. “I would like to thank everyone that joined us in this party. One request I will like to see them back in the next
game.”

A game that saw a much younger Charlotte Team hang with the more experienced and older LA Galaxy team was decided by a lone goal by LA Galaxy Midfielder Efrain Alvarez who put the ball high to left side
of Charlotte Goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina at the 77 minute of the game.

Despite letting up the only goal of the game, Kahlina was magnificent all night long as he made several amazing saves to keep the Charlotte soccer team in the game. The Galaxy out shot Charlotte 21 –5 although Charlotte did have some opportunities at scoring.

All said and done this was a night that Charlotte proved to the world that it more than deserved a MLS soccer team.
