NO MERCY, THIS SUNDAY ON THE WWE NETWORK

By Tarron Coalson

SMACKDOWN is live from San Diego, CA this week as the build up for their second Pay Per View, NO MERCY continues. SMACKDOWN hit all of the story lines for the event, Orton vs. Wyatt, Slater and Rhyno verses the Uso’s, Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss and the Triple Threat for the World Title with AJ Styles, John Cena and Dean Ambrose.

It just seems to me that the creative side of SMACKDOWN is so much better that RAW’s at this point. The announcers are a hundred times better. The only thing RAW has that’s better is Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Kevin Owens.

But, I digress…the night opens with Bray Wyatt in a rematch of the last PPV, going up against Kane. After a brawl, Bray gets in the upside down spider position and right on cue, Randy Orton appears upside down on the Titantron and the mind games of the two start for the evening. Bray leaves the ring in search for Orton, getting counted out in the process and giving Kane the win and a busted lip.

Promo follows with announer asking Baron Corbin about Jack Swagger and Swagger interrupts, challenging Corbin to a match and then more Bray Wyatt looking for Randy…

The following match has Nikki Bella facing Alexa Bliss with Carmella doing ringside commentary. It’s a back and forth match until Nikki throws Bliss into Carmella and then throws Bliss back into the ring. Carmella enters the ring and attacks Nikki and Bliss joins in until SMACKDOWN ladies champ Becky Lynch runs in and clears the ring.

Instead of disqualifying Lynch as Carmella jumped Nikki, they decide to restart the match as a tag match with Carmella joining Bliss and Lynch joining Bella.

It comes down to Nikki and Carmella fighting outside the ring and Bliss hitting the Twisted Bliss finisher on Lynch to get the victory, setting up their championship match this Sunday at NO MERCY.

Randy Orton locks Bray Wyatt in a storage container…stay tuned.

Daniel Bryan comes out and awards five recipients from the Susan G Komen Foundation title belts for their work in the More Than Pink campaign.

Next up is a tag match between the Hype Bros and the Vaude Villains and for some reason, the Ascension comes to the ramp to observe. Why? Who knows? They didn’t run in. They didn’t attack anyone. They were just there. Anyway, the Hype Bros hit the Hype Ryder finisher to secure the win.

MIZ TV is up next and the Miz invites Dolph Ziglar out to discuss their TITLE verses CAREER match this Sunday at NO MERCY. It’s a really good segment as these two guys work very well together. They had the Match of the Night at the last PPV and could do so again this Sunday. Miz produced a “Dolphumentary” of Ziglar’s career called “The Success of a Failure” and showed footage of Ziglar when he started in WWE as a caddy, as part of the Spirit Squad, getting his face rubbed on Sheamus’s rear end, getting punched by the actor Hugh Jackman, having manure dumped on him and being the World Champ for ten seconds before Edge speared him to take the title.

That alone was good enough. But then, two members of the Spirit Squad came out and did Dolph cheers and then promptly jumped Ziglar who comes back and Superkicks everyone in sight except MIZ. Nice build for their match Sunday!

More of Bray sitting in the storage container…stay tuned.

Jason Jordan faces Jay Uso in a singles match with their partners outside the ring. Jordan scores a rollup in about thirty seconds, winning the match. The Uso’s then jump American Alpha and WWE Tag Champs, Heath Slater and Rhyno run in to make the save. Slater and Rhyno face The Uso’s this Sunday at NO MERCY and I predict new tag champs.

Randy Orton comes back to open the storage container where he trapped Bray Wyatt and it’s amazingly empty. Wyatt must be magic. Really? The mind games continue.

Promo saying the long awaited Curt Hawkins will debut at NO MERCY.

Jack Swagger verses Baron Corbin is up next is a good hard hitting match that ends in controversy as Swagger locks Corbin in the ankle lock. As Corbin tries to get to the ropes, he flails his arms towards the ropes, hitting the mat, which the referee interprets as Corbin tapping out. Corbin goes bonkers and destroys the ringside area as Swagger is declared the winner by submission.

Finally, it’s AJ Styles, John Cena and Dean Ambrose facing off, not in a match, but in verbal sparring as a video montage recaps this feud of three. Eventually, it breaks down and Cena gives Ambrose an AA. Then Styles hits Cena with a Phenominal Forearm and Ambrose Dirty Deeds Styles on the floor outside the ring, again building for their main event this Sunday at NO MERCY.

As far as predictions go, I only see the Tag Belts changing hands. Maybe the Women’s title, but doubtful. I don’t see AJ losing the World Title here. Miz verses Ziglar will be Match of the Night. You would think Ziglar wins, but stranger things have happened. Remember Dusty Rhodes Midnight Rider gimmick or Jimmy Valiant’s, Charlie Brown from outta town gimmick. It’s been a long time since someone’s tried that but either way, it’s be fun to watch.
