Which Carolina Hurricanes will suit up for Opening Night?

Carolina Hurricanes fans, the day is finally here – Opening Night.

After months of waiting, you can finally bust your jerseys, hoodies, hats and other hockey memorabilia out of storage.

The 2022-2023 season had a lot of high hopes, with the Canes expected to contend for its second Stanley Cup title. Carolina reached the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2019, but lost to the red-hot Florida Panthers.

The Canes will be hosting a familiar Eastern Conference opponent, the Ottawa Senators, for their Opening Night clash on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Carolina took two of three from the Senators last year, winning 4-0 at home on Friday, Feb. 24 and 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday, April 4.

Carolina’s forwards will be centers Jordan Staal, Jack Drury, Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis, wingers Stefan Noesen, Brendan Lemieux, Jordan Martinook, Michael Bunting, Jesper Fast, Teuvo Teravainen and Martin Nečas, center/winger Jesperi Kotkaniemi, defensemen Jalen Chatfield, Dmitry Orlov, Brent Burns, Brett Pesce, Jaccob Slavin, Brady Skjei and Tony DeAngelo, plus goalies Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta.

Fans also might be wondering when star winger Andrei Svechnikov will return from injury, but he’ll begin the season on injured reserve as he continues to recover.If you want to watch the Canes’ chase for the Stanley Cup, it begins at 7 p.m. on Bally Sports South.
