Tobacco Road Sports Radio Announces Partnership to Air Charlotte Hornets Broadcasts in Triad on WWBG 1470AM

Tobacco Road Sports Radio, LLC announced on Wednesday that they have inked an agreement to broadcast Charlotte Hornets games in the Triad for the 2022-23 season.

Tobacco Road will air 50+ games this season on WWBG 1470am based in Guilford County. WWBG uses a 10,000 watt antenna in Northern Guilford County. The games will be able to be heard across all of Guilford County, Eastern Forsyth County, Western Alamance and Northern Randolph counties.

The first broadcast is scheduled for November 2nd vs the Chicago Bulls at 730pm.

“We are excited to once again expand our broadcast/production portfolio at Tobacco Road Sports Radio with the addition of the Charlotte Hornets Radio Network,” said Tobacco Road Sports Radio owner Desmond Johnson. “It was important to us to give access to the Hornets back to the Triad and we were able to get it done, were excited for the Hornets 2022-23 season.”

The Charlotte Hornets Radio Network is based out of WFNZ in Charlotte. Play by Play Announcer Sam Farber returns to the announcing table this season with Rob Longo as studio host.

Tobacco Road Sports Radio, LLC has built an impressive catalog of sports programming in the Triad since launching in September of 2020. The company is the home for North Carolina A&T Athletics broadcasts, multiple live High School Football Games every Friday night and sports talk studio shows based in the Triad such as Franchise Players with JP Mundy and Ryan Stone and The Rundown with Desmond Johnson.

Tobacco Road previously announced a separated partnership with WWBG 1470am to run their “TGIFriday” block of sports talk programming on Friday afternoons starting at 4pm with “The Score with Brett Wiseman”, followed by “Outta Pocket with Michael Davis” at 5pm and “Franchise Players” at 6pm. TGIFriday on WWBG is scheduled to begin Friday Oct 14th 2022.

Currently Tobacco Road Sports Radio has programming on 4 different terrestrial radio stations across the Triad. All of their programming can be streamed at TobaccoRoadSportsRadio.com. Due to NBA rules, the Hornets broadcasts in the Triad will be on WWBG 1470am only.
