Sterling Plemmons and Zack Ore Split Sportsman Events, Brandon Brendle Takes Stadium
Stock Triumph with Bryant Robertson Winning Street Stock Division Race
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 13, 2026) – If Saturday night was any indication, the next generation of
Bowman Gray Stadium stars is alive and well. Already a Modified winner this year in a 25 and a 50-lap
race, 17-year-old Slate Myers earned a hat trick of wins in the Traffic Control Safety Services 100. Slate
used a bit of luck to be scored ahead of his father Burt in the closing laps and held off every charge from
the points leader. The youngest winner in Brad’s Golf Cars Modified competition continues to line his
trophy case, now with three wins in his last eight starts.
“I hate it for Dad, honestly,” Slate Myers said. I didn’t want to get back in front of him, I was trying
everything in my power to let him go win. I know how hard we work on these racecars. It just sucks for
him, but it’s awesome for me. I can’t thank everybody enough. I couldn’t do this without all of the support.”
Slate and his father Burt just beat out Tim Brown, Ethan Truell, and Chris Fleming at the checkers. The
Brad’s Golf Cars Modifieds return to action next week with Twin 25-lap races. Tire samples were taken
from the Modifieds’ top three finishers, the Traffic Control Safety Services 100’s results are still unofficial
pending these tests coming back.
The Law Offices of John Barrow Sportsman Division saw their double feature split by two drivers currently
from the top six in points. Sterling Plemmons led every lap of race one after starting second, taking the
No. 03’s second win of the season.
“Yeah it’s been a little bit of a rough year, glad we’ve squeezed out two wins,” Plemmons said. “We’ve had
some rough nights otherwise, but it always feels good and never gets old winning here.” Plemmons
edged out Tommy Neal, Mitch Gales, Justin Taylor, and Zack Ore for race one.
Following a top 14 invert, the Sportsman doubleheader was capped off by Zack Ore returning to victory
lane for a sixth time in 2026. Bowman Gray Stadium career win number 31 lifts the No. 55 to fourth in
points, within striking distance of this year’s championship.
“I got to thank Nate [Gregg], that was a good race between us,” Ore said. “It just seems like it’s me and
the Gregg boys just drag racing for about two laps for the win every week.” Ore got the upper hand over
Nate Gregg, Kenny Bost, Justin Taylor, and Billy Gregg for this finish. Sportsman drivers now gear up for
Twin 20-lap features next week, part of Truliant Night of Destruction.
A time-shortened event for the QRC HVAC & Refrigeration Street Stocks saw another repeat winner this
year at Bowman Gray Stadium. Bryant Robertson picked up his second win of the season after taking
command on lap nine and never looking back. The No. 72 found its way to a very familiar victory lane
once a time limit hit and cut this race four laps shy of its scheduled distance.
“Well let me tell you I had some good guys behind me,” Robertson said. “Christian Joyce, top notch racer.
I mean, he gave me some pressure. He ran me clean though.” Behind Robertson and Joyce, the Street
Stock top five were: points leader Brad Lewis, his daughter Emilee Lewis, and Craig Hartless. Street
Stocks will see another 20 laps around The Madhouse on Saturday night.
Rounding out the night of action at The Madhouse was a stacked 26-car race for the Q104.1 Stadium
Stock division. Reigning series champion Brandon Brendle picked up this win, a third victory of his title
defense season. Brendle’s No. 43 grabbed this checkered flag, the 39 th of his career, after rolling off 14th
on the grid.
“We’ve had some bad luck with this car, but got it right for us,” Brendle said. “We found some stuff and I
can’t thank my guys and all my sponsors enough.” Brendle beat out Stephen Sanders, Zak Taylor, Adam
Baker Jr., and Brad Mickalowski. Stadium Stocks will be back in action next week with one or two 15-lap
races depending on car count.
Saturday night’s show at Bowman Gray Stadium did wrap up with a five-lap Skid Race. Adam Moore led
wire-to-wire to take the final checkered flag of the night.
One of Bowman Gray Stadium’s most popular nights every year, Truliant Night of Destruction is back and
promises family-friendly carnage for all ages. This week’s stacked lineup will feature all four regular
divisions at The Madhouse, on top of a demolition derby and monster trucks.
