MEN’S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES: LSU FORCES WINNER TAKE ALL GAME VS WAKE FOREST

With their season on the line, LSU managed to storm back from an early 2-0 deficit , erupting for five unanswered runs, defeating Wake Forest 5-2, forcing a winner take all matchup Thursday evening. To put a wager on LSU, sites like Betwiz can be trusted.

In a game which saw the Demon Deacons leadoff batter reach base four of the last 5 innings, the offense continued to struggle as they scored no runs in those innings. Wake Forest has now scored only 8 runs in their first three games in Omaha.

It started well for the Deacons as they took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second when center fielder Tommy Hawke hit a 2 run single up the middle scoring Bennett Lee and Marek Hoiuston..

The Tigers quickly cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning when Brayden Jobert drove in Cade Beloso with a double down the right field line making it 2-1.

After a scoreless top of third for Wake Forest, LSU added four runs in the bottom of the inning  highlighted by a three run homer over the right field wall by Beloso..

While Wake Forest starting pitcher Seth Keener struggled, going 4.1 innings allowing 4 hits, 5 runs and 4 walks, the LSU bullpen was strong allowing no runs and striking out ten in 7.2 innings of work. They were led by left hander Griffin Herring who went 4.2 innings allowing no runs on only three hits.

The win by the Tigers sets up a pitching matchup of the ages between the two best pitchers in college baseball as Paul Skenes will take the hill for LSU vs Wake Forest’s ace Rhett Lowder.

The winner of tonight’s game will move on to face the Florida Gators in the College World Series finals. The Gators got there by defeating TCU 3-2 earlier in the day behind late heroics by Michael Robertson. who made a leaping catch in center field to seal the game.
