The gridiron excitement is thick in the air as the East Forsyth Eagles gear up for the highly anticipated 2024 varsity football season. With the schedule officially released, High School Football fans are eagerly awaiting the action-packed matchups that lie ahead for their beloved Eagles. Here’s a way too early sneak peak at the 2024 East Forsyth Fighting Eagles.
Returning Players:
Leading the charge for the Eagles is senior quarterback Bryce Baker, a standout talent committed to the University of North Carolina. In the 2023 season, Baker showcased his prowess by throwing for over 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns, solidifying his status as a top-tier signal-caller.
Joining Baker in the passing game are Junior wide receivers JP Gilchrist and Jaire Richburg. Gilchrist, a dynamic playmaker, hauled in 40 receptions for 800 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, while Richburg added another dimension to the offense with his speed and route-running ability, tallying 30 receptions for 600 yards and 8 touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, East Forsyth boasts returning starters in defensive lineman Ke’Moir Pouncey and inside linebacker Nathan Stewart. Pouncey wreaked havoc in opposing backfields with 10 sacks and 15 tackles for loss in the 2023 campaign, while Stewart anchored the linebacker corps with 80 tackles and 3 interceptions.
Head Coach Todd Willert, a seasoned leader with a proven track record of success, guides the Eagles into battle once again. Under his tutelage, East Forsyth compiled an impressive 10-2 record in the 2023 season and advanced to the third round of the state playoffs, falling just short of a championship run.
2024 Schedule:
The Eagles’ schedule is filled with tough opponents and heated rivalries, providing ample opportunities for Baker, Gilchrist, Richburg, Pouncey, Stewart, and the rest of the team to showcase their talent and compete at the highest level. All Games are currently listed with 7pm starts with the opener at home vs Heritage on Friday August 23rd 2024.
