WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 25, 2017) – For the second consecutive game, Winston-Salem received both a hitless outing from its starting pitcher and a home run from Seby Zavala as the Dash claimed a series victory against Buies Creek with a 4-0 win on Sunday afternoon at BB&T Ballpark.

Tanner Banks (7-3), who tossed his second career nine-inning complete-game shutout in his most recent outing, kept the Astros (1-3, 38-35) off the hit column through five innings of work. A Midseason Carolina League All-Star, the southpaw set a career-high with six walks but also struck out six batters in what was an 86-pitch effort.

Similar to Saturday’s contest, the Dash’s no-hit bid was broken up in the seventh inning. With one out, Alex De Goti stroked a double down the left field line against Drew Hasler. The Astros managed only one more hit against Hasler, who tossed three scoreless innings to lower his ERA at the downtown facility in his career to 0.24 (1ER in 37.2 IP).

Winston-Salem (3-1, 27-47) struck first in the bottom of the third against Astros starter Ryan Hartman (0-3). With a runner on second and two outs, Toby Thomas smacked an RBI double down the right field line to give the Dash a 1-0 edge.

In the fourth, Telvin Nash led off the frame with a double, and, two batters later, Zavala came to the plate. The former San Diego State star, who hit a grand slam in his Dash debut the night before, pummeled a two-run shot to left on an 0-2 pitch to put Winston-Salem up three.

Nash provided the final blow, registering his fifth blast at the High-A level this year on a solo shot to left-center.

Louie Lechich sealed the team’s fifth shutout this season with a perfect ninth inning, registering his eighth scoreless appearance in his last nine outings.

The Dash will kick off an eight-game road trip on Monday, starting with a four-game set against Down East followed by a four-game series versus the Carolina Mudcats. White Sox prospect Alec Hansen, who went 7-3 with a 2.48 ERA in the first half with Kannapolis, will make his High-A debut in the series opener against the Wood Ducks at Grainger Stadium. First pitch is at7 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 p.m. on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn Radio App.

Following this stretch, #YourHomeTeam returns to BB&T Ballpark for Independence Day! The Dash are hosting the only Fourth of July Fireworks show in Winston-Salem.
