As North Carolina’s realignment takes effect, the newly formed TAAC Six 5A/6A Conference will feature six Guilford-County powerhouses—all vying for supremacy in 2025. After a 2024 campaign that saw each team mix outstanding individual performances with uneven consistency, this league promises to deliver some of the Tar Heel State’s most competitive Friday-night football. Below, we break down each program’s recent résumé, highlight key returnees, and issue our projected finish—topping out with Northern Guilford and Northeast Guilford leading the way.
TAAC Six 5A/6A Membership
- Northeast Guilford Rams (5A)
- Southern Guilford Storm (5A)
- Asheboro Blue Comets (6A)
- Eastern Guilford Wildcats (6A)
- Northern Guilford Nighthawks (6A)
- Southeast Guilford Falcons (6A)
Northern Guilford Nighthawks
2024: 11–2 overall, 6–1 TAAC-Six predecessor (2A/3A Mid-State)
- Key returnees
- QB Jaxson Kemp (Sr.) – Led Northern with three fourth-quarter comebacks; engineered win over Marvin Ridge in 4A state playoffs. Threw for 18 TDs and 1731 yards last season.
- WR Greyson Council (Sr.) – Caught 32 passes for 549 yards and 5 TDs in 2024.
- LB Noah Smith (Sr.) – Team-leading 144 tackles in 2024
- Outlook: With a senior-laden roster and momentum from an 11-win season, the Nighthawks bring back nearly every key contributor on both sides of the ball. Their experience in big-game environments gives them the edge to win this inaugural TAAC Six title.
Northeast Guilford Rams
2024: 6–5 overall, 5–2 Mid-State 3A
- Key returnees
- QB Jaquez Crawford (Sr.) – Recent NC Central commit Crawford follows new Rams Head Coach Antonio Hall to McLeansville to finish his High School career. The Former Grimsley and Dudley QB threw for 2,247 yards on 81% completion rate with 27 TDs and 3 INTs for Dudley in 2024, leading them to a runner up appearance in the 2024 NCHSAA 3A State Finals.
- WR/CB Aaryn Tate (Sr.) – Team leader with 48 catches, 852 yards, 9 touchdowns in 2024
- MLB Travis Dockery (Sr.) – Returning tackle leader with 72 tackles in 2024
- Outlook: After going 5-2 in the former Mid State 3A conference last year and winning a 1st round State playoff game, the Rams look to get better. Under new Head Coach Antonio Hall, the Rams have both the firepower and secondary depth to challenge Northern Guilford—and we project them to finish a close runner-up.
Eastern Guilford Wildcats
2024: 6–5 overall, 6–1 Mid-State 3A (tied 1st)
- Key returnees
- QB Javion Majette (Jr.) – Threw for 1,138 yards and 15 TDs in 11 games in 2024
- RB Tyler Whaley-Melvin (Sr.) – 420 yards on 68 carries; averaged 6.2 yards per carry in 2024
- LB Samari Smith (Sr.) – 97 total tackles and 6 tackles for loss in 2024 as a Junior.
- Outlook: Riding the confidence of a 6–1 league mark last year in the Mid-State 3A, the Wildcats’ explosive offense and veteran front four make them a dark-horse for the conference crown—our pick to finish third.
Southern Guilford Storm
2024: 4–6 overall, 3–4 Mid-State 3A
- Key returnees
- QB Seth Davis (Jr.) – Junior QB returns after throwing for 565 yards with 3 Touchdowns as a starting Sophomore in 2024
- MLB Alex Anderson (Jr.) – Notched 71 solo tackles as a Sophomore in 2024
- CB Chris Simmons (Jr.) – 3 Interceptions in 8 games as a Sophomore in 2024
- Outlook: With dynamic young playmakers on both sides, the Storm are poised to rebound. Their depth on offense earns them a mid-table fourth-place projection.
Southeast Guilford Falcons
2024: 7–5 overall, 4–3 Metro 4A
- Key returnees
- ILB Caleb Jackson (Sr.) – Leading returning tackler with 73 total in 2024
- WR/DB Lemell Bess (Sr.) – Top returning WR with 20 catches for 215 yards and 2 TDs. 522 total all purpose yards in 2024
- Outlook: A very young team due to a lot of Seniors graduating last year leads to uncertainty with the Falcons. However, expect long time Head Coach Earl Bates to have the Falcons ready to battle in a deep league.
Asheboro Blue Comets
2024: 4–7 overall, 2–3 Mid-Piedmont 3A
- Key returnees
- RB Connor Brinton (So.) – Rushed for 1076 yards and 7 TDs in 10 games in 2024 averaging 107.6 ypg
- WR Dallas Brinton (Jr.) – Top returning WR with 22 catches for 334 yards and 2 TDs.
- Outlook: Moving up two classifications presents a challenge. With only four conference wins last year and a young roster, the Blue Comets project to finish sixth—yet they’ll be competitive in every contest.
