Ladies and Gentleman we are closing in on the 2023 Bowman Gray racing season. As it is a close battle for the championship in all four divisions. We’ll take a look back at the season and make some championship predictions.
The closest battle heading into this Saturday is in the Street Stock with Christian Joyce holding a four point lead over Austin Jones.
The second closest being in Modified with Tim Brown with a seven point lead over Brandon Ward.
While in the other two divisions, Chase Robertson holds a 19 point lead over Zach Ore, and AJ Sanders holds a 20 point lead over Brandon Brendle.
Tim Brown is your Brad Golf Cars Modified Series top gun going into the finale as he has four wins, while Jason Myers and Chris Fleming have three wins, Burt Myers and Lee Jeffrey’s have two wins.
Going into this race, Tim Brown holds a seven point lead over Brandon Ward, a 17 point lead over Chris Fleming, and a 40 point advantage over Lee Jeffreys. Burt Myers and Junior Snow have a huge task ahead of them but anything can happen. As here are the scenarios for modified.
Tim Brown has to finish 2nd place or better regardless of what everyone else does to win his 13th career Modified Championship.
Brandon Ward has to finish just 2 positions ahead of Tim Brown to win his 1st career Modified Championship and become the 24th Modified driver to win a championship at Bowman Gray.
Chris Fleming has to finish 4 positions ahead of Brandon Ward and 6 positions ahead of Tim Brown to clinch his 1st career Modified Championship. Fleming would become the oldest Modified Champion ever at 60 Years, 1 Month, 7 Days.
Lee Jeffreys has to finish 6 positions ahead of Chris Fleming, 9 positions ahead of Brandon Ward and 11 positions ahead of Tim Brown (because Tim Brown has the tiebreaker) to win his 1st career Modified Championship. Jeffreys would make history as he would join his father Robert and become the first ever father-son duo to win a Modified Championship.
Burt Myers has to finish 2 positions ahead of Lee Jeffreys, 7 positions ahead of Chris Fleming, 11 positions ahead of Brandon Ward and 13 positions ahead of Tim Brown because of the tiebreaker) to win his 11th Modified Championship.
Junior Snow has to finish 6 positions ahead of Burt Myers, 8 positions ahead of Lee Jeffreys, 13 positions ahead of Chris Fleming, 16 positions ahead of Brandon Ward and 18 positions ahead of Tim Brown to win his 1st career Modified Championship.
My prediction for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series Championship is my original pick in the preseason… Brandon Ward
Next up will be the McDowell Heating & Air Sportsman Series, as I mentioned before Chase Robertson holds a 19 point lead over Zach Ore, 24 point lead over “The Real Deal” Riley Neal, 60 point lead over Michael Adams, and a 76 point lead over Amber Lynn.
Chase Robertson and Michael Adams are tied for the top gun going into the finale with five victories each in the McDowell Heating & Air Sportsman Series, Zack Ore has four, and Riley Neal has three, with Amber Lynn having two wins.
Chase Robertson has to finish 5th place or better to win his 1st career Sportsman Championship.
Zack Ore has to finish 5 positions ahead of Chase Robertson to win his 1st career Sportsman Championship.
Riley Neal has to finish 2 positions ahead of Zack Ore and 7 positions ahead of Chase Robertson (Chase holds the tiebreaker) to win his 1st Sportsman Championship. Riley would join his father Kevin as the 3rd father-son duo to win a Sportsman Championship.
Michael Adams has to finish 9 positions ahead of Riley Neal, 11 positions ahead of Zack Ore and 16 positions ahead of Chase Robertson to win his 1st career Sportsman Championship. Michael would join his father David as the 3rd father-son duo to win a Sportsman Championship.
Amber Lynn has to finish 5 positions ahead of Michael Adams, 14 positions ahead of Riley Neal, 15 positions ahead of Zack Ore and 20 positions ahead of Chase Robertson to win her 1st career Sportsman Championship. Lynn is looking to become only the second woman to win a Track Championship (G.R. Merritt- Blunderbust Division 1982)
My prediction for the McDowell Heating & Air Sportsman Series Championship is Chase Robertson, he has been consistent all year long, stayed away from the drama and made sure to be there at the end of the races.
The Law Offices of John Barrow Street
Stock Series has been closest battle all season long between three guys and it all comes down to championship night, with Christian Joyce holding a four point lead over Austin Jones and a eight point lead over Brad Lewis.
Brad Lewis and Christian Joyce are tied with the top gun with four wins in The Law Offices of John Barrow Street Stock Series, with Austin Jones grabbing two wins this season.
Christian Joyce has to finish 2nd place or better to tie Austin Jones, but due to Joyce having the tiebreaker with more wins he would win the Championship.
Austin Jones has to finish 2 positions ahead of Christian Joyce to win his 1st career Street Stock Championship. Jones would join his grandfather Phillip “Pee Wee” Jones as a champion at Bowman Gray.
Brad Lewis has to finish 1 position ahead of Austin Jones and 3 positions ahead of Christian Joyce to win his 1st career Street Stock Championship. Joyce currently holds the tiebreaker over Lewis due to Joyce’s win being the most recent win.
Cale Martin has to finish 16 positions ahead of Brad Lewis, 17 positions ahead of Austin Jones and 18 positions ahead of Christian Joyce to win his 1st career Street Stock Championship.
Martin would join his cousin Spencer as the 3rd brother duo to win a Street Stock Championship.
My prediction for The Law Offices of John Barrow Street Stock Series will be Brad Lewis, he always seems to find his way to the front no matter where he starts. I feel like he will finish off the season the same way he started the season and that will be with a win.
Finally it is time for your Q104.1 Stadium Stock Series, while the red hot Brandon Brendle and Chuck Wall are tied with the top gun as both have five wins, with AJ Sanders with three, Blaine Curry and Issac Harris have one each.
AJ Sanders hold a 20 point cushion over Brandon Brendle, while Brendle has been on a tear of late with back to back wins along with multiple tops fives he still trails Sanders. Chuck Wall is 50 points behind Sanders. Harris is 52 points behind and Curry sits 68 behind.
A.J. Sanders has to finish 5th place or better to win his 4th career Stadium Stock Championship and to tie Chuck Wall for the Most Stadium Stock Championships.
Brandon Brendle has to finish 5 positions ahead of A.J. Sanders to win his 2nd Stadium Stock Championship. Tying Johnny Burke, Randy Moore, Tommy Neal & Wesley Thompson with 2 championships.
Chuck Wall has to finish 8 positions ahead of Brandon Brendle and 13 positions ahead of A.J. Sanders to win his record 5th Stadium Stock Championship.
Isaac Harris has to finish 1 position ahead of Chuck Wall, 9 positions ahead of Brandon Brendle and 14 positions ahead of A.J. Sanders to win his 1st career Stadium Stock Championship.
Blaine Curry has to finish 5 positions ahead of Isaac Harris, 5 positions ahead of Chuck Wall, 13 positions ahead of Brandon Brendle and 18 positions ahead of A.J. Sanders to win his 1st career Stadium Stock Championship. Curry is looking to join his father Charlie as the first ever father-son duo to win a Stadium Stock Championship
My prediction for the Q104 Stadium Stock is Brandon Brendle, I feel like he can continue his hot streak and make a comeback to win his second Stadium Stock title.
