If you thought the hockey offseason was long, think again.
Canes fans, have you longed for the boys in red, white and black to lace up their skates and return to the ice? Are you eager for Carolina to finally take that next step: actually winning an Eastern Conference Final game and – if it’s lucky – another Stanley Cup?
On Tuesday, July 2 – just under two months after the Canes’ season ended in the Eastern Conference Semifinals – against the New York Rangers, the Canes learned their regular season schedule for the upcoming season.
Carolina starts its quest for a second Stanley Cup on Friday, Oct. 11 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, its first of 82 regular-season games. Tampa returns with Jake Guenztel, whom the Canes acquired at the trade deadline last season, only for Tampa to sign him to a massive contract just days ago.
After starting October with 10 games, Carolina will play a season-high 15 games in November. The Canes start November with a Nov. 3 clash against Alex Ovechkin and the Metro Division rival Washington Capitals, then play the newly-relocated Utah Hockey Club on Wednesday, Nov. 13 in Salt Lake City.
Holiday hockey is in the cards, too. Carolina will play the Monday, Wednesday and Friday of Thanksgiving week, plus on Dec. 20, 22, 23 and 27 right around Christmas.
The Canes will play a season-high nine games on Sunday, eight on Thursday, plus seven apiece on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
Jan. 30 and March 25, 2025 are additional dates to keep on your calendar, as former longtime Canes Teuvo Teravainen (Chicago Blackhawks) and defenseman Brady Skjei (Nahsville Predators) will return to Raleigh.
Carolina’s home slate of regular season games ends on April 13, 2025 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Canes’ final regular season game will be on April 17, 2025 at the Ottawa Senators.

Can you believe hockey starts again in just three months?
