Luke Maye scored 17 points and pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds as North Carolina beat Boston College 79-66 on Tuesday night.
Despite Maye’s inability to knock down a shot from beyond the arc — he went 0-for-4 on the night — he connected on 7-of-15 shots from the floor, and hit all three of his free throws. He also dished out five assists and blocked a shot en route to the Tar Heels’ ninth conference road victory of the season.
Cameron Johnson scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting, and 3-of-7 from three-point range. He also grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, and handed out five assists.
In all, four Tar Heels scored in double-figures including Coby White‘s 11 points — the star point guard passed Michael Jordan on the all-time UNC freshman scoring list — and Kenny Williams’ 10. As a team, North Carolina outrebounded Boston College by 25, recorded twice as many assists and shot better than 42 percent from the floor.
