Its Week 3 of the 2023 High School Football season and its the first week of the Tobacco Road Sports Radio Triad Top 5. These are the top 5 High School Football Teams in the Triad for the Week of Aug 29th 2023.

How do we compile our top 5? We use a poll with a variety of area personalities from Tobacco Road Sports Radio and other outlets weekly in a rotating panel. This includes multiple play by play and color commentators for HS Football for Tobacco Road Sports Radio, including JP Mundy, Chase Williams and Mike Fanning. Plus High School Football area beat writers Bryant Roche from the Winston Salem Journal/Greensboro News and Record and Freelance Triad Preps Reporter Marc Pruitt.

Here is your Triad Top 5 for Tues Aug 29th 2023

#1 – Grimsley (2-0) Previous game: Defeated Rolesville 63-34 on Friday. Next Game at Reagan (0-2). Junior RB Mitchell Summers went OFF on Friday with 178 rushing yards on 17 carries and six touchdowns vs Rolesville. The defending Western Regional 4A champ travels to Pfafftown on Friday Sept 1st to take on a Reagan team that has started 0-2, but has played Grimsley tight the previous two seasons.

#2 – East Forsyth (2-0) Previous game: Defeated Jack Britt 55-0 on Friday. Next Game vs AC Reynolds (1-1) East Forsyth’s offense has scored 104 points (52 ppg) in its first two games, on the road. Junior QB Bryce Baker has seamlessly integrated into the East Forsyth program, throwing for 257 yards (74% completion rate) and 4 touchdowns through the air. The defense has allowed only 7 points in its first two games led by Junior Elijah Edwards and Senior Khi Mitchell. East opens its home schedule vs AC Reynolds Friday.

#3 – Dudley (2-0) Previous game: Defeated SE Guilford 57-0 on Friday. Next Game at Durham Hillside (1-1) Head Coach Stephen Davis has the Panthers rolling again in East Greensboro. Led by QB Andrew Attimore II (313 passing yards per game) the Panthers have scored 97 points in 2 games. They have allowed 7. Next up a state rivalry game vs Durham Hillside on the road.

#4 – Reidsville (2-0) Previous game: Defeated Page 31-17 on Friday. Next Game vs Rockingham County (2-0) Sophomore TE/DE Kendre Harrison is being nationally recruited in both Football and Basketball and the young man showed out Friday with 6 receptions for 116 yards vs Page. Next up for the Rams, an undefeated Rockingham County squad will visit to give an early season test.

#5 – West Forsyth (2-0) Previous game: Defeated Oak Grove 40-29 on Friday. Next Game at Weddington (2-0) New Head Coach Kevin Wallace has the Titans out to a surprising 2-0 start. The Titans running game has been the early season story, with RB Caman Chaplin rushing for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns vs Oak Grove. Running Back U is back in Clemmons, but they face their toughest test yet on Friday travelling to Weddington to face the highly ranked Warriors.
