Three-Touchdown Third Quarter Leads Wolfpack to 33-7 win at BC

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – A 21-point third quarter led the visiting #22 Wolfpack (5-1, 2-0 ACC) to a 33-7 win at Boston College. The Wolfpack has now won four straight, and opens ACC action 2-0.

With the Pack up 10-7 at the half, NC State outscored the Eagles 23-7 in second half.

Both teams scored on their first offensive possession, as the game was tied 7-7 after the first quarter.

The Pack went 75 yards in just five plays, capped by a Devin Leary to Devin Carter 40-yard TD pass on third down. BC responded, going 75 yards on 10 plays.

The score line held till late in the first half, as Christopher Dunn hit a 27-yard field goal on the final play of the half to give the Pack a 10-7 halftime lead. The drive was a 16-play drive that took up the final 6:05 of the quarter.

Three touchdowns in the third quarter padded the Pack lead.

The Eagles lined up to punt, but a fumble on the play was recovered by Devan Boykin and returned 34 yards for a touchdown. The Wolfpack offense then took their next drive in for a TD, capped by Leary finding TE Dylan Parham from four yards out. The third was a long catch-and-run, and Leary found Thayer Thomas for a 79-yard score.

That long TD gave the Pack a 31-7 lead with 4:23 left in the third quarter.

NOTABLES
• With two receptions in the game, WR Emeka Emezie became NC State’s all-time receptions leader. He now has 203 career catches, passing Jaylen Samuels (2014-17).

• With seven points today (1 FG, 4 extra points), PK Christopher Dunn is now tied as the Pack’s all-time leading scorer (Nikolas Sade – 2011-14).

• Boykin is the first Pack defensive player to score a TD since Max Fisher last season vs. Duke. Fisher’s TD came off a blocked punt, returned eight yards.

• Leary’s 79-yard TD pass in the third quarter was the longest of his career. His previous high was 55 yards at Boston College in 2019. It was also Thomas’ longest career reception, his previous high was 37 yards vs. Virginia Tech last season.
