The Old School…Live from 2021 ACC Kickoff

CHARLOTTE—The hotel is swanky, space is limited, but the buzz is loud and spirits high. Yes, folks, ACC Kickoff is live and in person this year and we are ready to rock live from the Westin Charlotte. The new conference commissioner, Jim Phillips, spoke to his new kingdom this morning- if you’re into that kind of thing it’s on the conference website, I’m sure.

Why am I here? Great question.

Number one, free food and drink- that’s the driving force of most sports media members I know. We eat- and we eat well. Number two, well, we ARE Tobacco Road Sports Radio. Last time I checked we have a few teams from North Cackalacky in our footprint, and there’s a lot of hype surrounding a few of our players throughout the state.

I’m going to do a lot of listening today. There are talented writers here who will get into the nuts and bolts of NIL, COVID, and the Cover 70 spread special team red right 88 X’s and O’s. When you send Old School to cover an event like this, the content you’re getting will be more along the lines of “Who is the locker room DJ?” “What current brand best represents you?” “Favorite pregame meal?”
