CHARLESTON, S.C. – The North Carolina A&T men’s basketball team dropped a road contest against The Citadel, 78-70, Thursday evening inside the McAlister Field House. The Aggies dropped to 2-3 on the season.

“On the road, you can’t relax,” said N.C. A&T coach Will Jones. “You can’t give the other team any life with mistakes. We did both tonight. We have to learn from it and bounce back.”

Leading 40-30 at halftime, the Aggies increased their lead to 16, 46-30, as part of a 15-0 run. The Bulldogs (2-0) responded with a run of their own, an 18-8 spurt, to tie the game at 66 with 5:31 remaining in the game.

The Citadel closed the game on a 15-4 run and shot 4-for-6 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free throw line to secure the win while the Aggies struggled to hit on just 1of 8 shots over the last five minutes.

Junior forward Kenyon Duling led all Aggies with 13 points and senior guard Kameron Langley had a near triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven dimes. He now has 668 career assists and is just 32 away from the 700-mark.

Juniors Tyler Maye and Quentin Jones had 12 points apiece.

Hayden Brown had 20 points to go along with 11 boards for the Bulldogs and Fletcher Abee also notched 20 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field.

After falling behind 3-0 to start the game, the Aggies put together a 9-0 spurt over a two-minute, 19-second span. The first break in action came with just under 14 minutes remaining and the Aggies led 14-8.

The Citadel cut the deficit to one, 31-30, but N.C. A&T executed yet another 9-0 run to claim the 10-point halftime advantage.

N.C. A&T shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and 87.5 percent from the free throw line. Langley had six points, four assists and four rebounds in the first 20 minutes.

Duling had a team-high 11 points, already securing his first double-figure scoring game of the season. N.C. A&T also had 15 first-half bench points and held the Bulldogs to zero.

The Aggies will return home to Greensboro for a few days before hitting the road again to take on Longwood Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. in Farmville, Va.
