Queen City Welcomes Charlotte FC

charlotte FC

The Queen City will now host professional soccer with the introduction of Charlotte FC. The team will play in Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, and plans to play its first game in 2022. Currently, renovations are being made to the stadium to account for soccer. A center tunnel, and new locker rooms for the club, among them.

Charlotte FC will have a familiar yet modern identity, its logo being a modern crown design, and its colors being very familiar, black, and blue. It was a wise choice and a convenient one, as it made no sense to try and have a unique color palette especially one that would heavily contrast the colors of the Carolina Panthers (and to a lesser degree the Charlotte Hornets). Charlotte FC is owned by Billionaire David Tepper, who also owns the Panthers.

It’s important to note that although the team is still being put together as an organization, they are still working towards putting together a roster for when it comes time to play, they have currently signed two players, Sergio Ruiz who is currently on loan to UD Las Palmas and Riley McGree who is on loan to Birmingham City of the EFL Championship (the second division in England)

The Club plans to only sell tickets in the lower bowl which will allow for around 40,000 fans per game. Considering the popularity of soccer in America, that is quite the number of seats, Atlanta United who shares their stadium with the Atlanta Falcons, also is around 40,000 seats. For fans who may be interested, they are already taking deposits for season tickets or club seats.

Charlotte has truly cemented itself as a true sports market and a real city for sports fans, now with an NBA, NFL, AHL, and MLS team. We’ve got four wonderful sports and four wonderful teams right under our noses. I will be keeping up with fans by constantly reporting on the progress of the team cas we head towards 2021
