Panthers Reportedly Release Veteran Quarterback

By Matt Audilet The Carolina Panthers have reportedly released veteran quarterback option Matt Barkley. Though head coach Matt Rhule has employed a multiple-QB system in recent weeks, the Panthers no longer have a need for Barkley with Cam Newton, Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker all available. Carolina could possibly re-sign Barkley to the practice squad roster, per Panthers insider David Newton of ESPN. Barkley was signed off the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad on Nov. 10.
