
DURHAM, N.C. – Cormac Ryan scored 28 points and Notre Dame shot .552 from the field as the Irish held on late to defeat Duke, 93-89, Tuesday afternoon at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
A five-point halftime lead for the Blue Devils paved way for a back-and-forth second half that featured six ties and 13 lead changes. Freshman Jeremy Roach knotted the game at 83 with 4:49 remaining, but Notre Dame’s Juwan Durham answered with points on back-to-back possessions to pull the Irish ahead. A Prentiss Hubb three-pointer increased the Irish lead to five, and a pair of free throws from Dane Goodwin secured the Notre Dame win in the closing seconds.
Sophomore Wendell Moore Jr., had a strong outing for Duke (7-8, 5-6 ACC), posting his second career double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Moore also dished out three assists and converted 4-of-4 free throw attempts. Roach finished with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, and senior Jordan Goldwire had a team-high four assists to go with four points and five rebounds.
The Irish (8-10, 5-7 ACC) went 18-of-20 from the free throw line, with Goodwin and Nate Laszewski each knocking down 4-of-4 attempts.
