NCFC have won their second away match of the 2025 USL Championship season. They defeated the Pittsburgh Riverhounds 2-0, securing our second 3 points away from home this campaign. This win kept us in 5th place with 11 points through 8 matches in the league.
After a stalemate first half, Louis Perez opened the scoring with a shot outside the box from a defending clearance to give us our one goal lead. Six minutes later, Pedro Dolabella scored our second to double the lead, giving us confidence to see out the rest of the match. Mikey Maldonado was the only assister on the night as he sent in the exquisite cross to Dolabella that doubled our advantage. This is a much-needed win away from home for NCFC; with our last away win coming in March with a 1-0-win vs Tulsa. NCFC defended extremely well throughout the entire match, leading to only one shot on target. Jake McGuire, our starting goalie, saved the only shot and kept his second clean sheet of the 2025 season.
North Carolina FC will be hoping to continue their good form at home as they host Charlotte FC in the round of 32 in the US Open Cup on May 6th. Following the cup match, NCFC will host Orange County SC on May 9th with the hopes of continuing positive results in both competitions.
