First Report: Balanced Tar Heels Defeat Davidson (via InsideCarolina.com)

Five Tar Heels scored in double figures on Saturday in Carolina’s win over Davidson

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — No. 14 North Carolina overcame a slow start before it used a 20-4 run to close the half and rolled to an 82-60 win over Davidson in the Dean E. Smith Center on Saturday afternoon. After falling behind midway through the first half, the Tar Heels extended the lead to 20 points at the beginning of the second period and cruised to a comfortable win.

UNC improved to 9-3 on the season.

Cameron Johnson led UNC with 17 points while Kenny Williams chipped in 12 points.

The Tar Heels shot 44.0 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from three while holding Davidson to 30.0 percent from the field and 26.0 from three. Five Tar Heels scored in double figures.

Sharing the Ball

Carolina successfully spread the ball around, finishing with 20 assists on 26 made field goals.

The Tar Heels, for the season, are averaging 33.7 made field goals to go along with 19.7 assists. Against Kentucky in Chicago, Roy Williams’s squad dished out 18 assists on its 27 field goals, both below average. True freshman Coby White led all Tar Heels with seven assists against Davidson despite a low-scoring afternoon (seven points) for the starting point guard. White had three turnovers for the game.
