In an exciting development for high school sports enthusiasts across Guilford and Forsyth County, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has teamed up with SportsCarolinaMonthly.com to shine a spotlight on outstanding student athletes. Beginning in the upcoming 2024-25 school year, the collaborative effort will identify and honor High School Athletes of the Week, celebrating their achievements both on and off the field.
This groundbreaking partnership aims to recognize the dedication, talent, and character exemplified by young athletes in the local community. Each week, one exceptional student athlete from participating schools will be selected for this prestigious accolade. Their accomplishments, both in sports and in their personal lives, will be showcased prominently on Tobacco Road Sports Radio, bringing well-deserved recognition to these rising stars.
“What an exciting opportunity to spread the word about FCA and shine an light on some outstanding athletes,” expressed Jeff Barnes, the Western Triad Director of FCA. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to empower young athletes to make a positive impact through sports, leadership, and faith.”
The selection process for High School Athletes of the Week will focus not only on athletic performance but also on qualities such as sportsmanship, academic achievement, and community involvement. Through a collaborative effort between FCA, SportsCarolinaMonthly.com, and local high school coaches and administrators, deserving students will be identified and celebrated for their outstanding contributions both on and off the field.
“We believe in the power of sports to inspire and unite communities,” remarked Desmond Johnson, editor-in-chief of SportsCarolinaMonthly.com and owner of Tobacco Road Sports Radio, LLC. “By highlighting the achievements of these young athletes, we hope to inspire others and foster a culture of excellence and integrity in high school sports.”
Tobacco Road Sports Radio, a prominent platform for sports enthusiasts throughout the region, will serve as the broadcasting hub for these weekly spotlights. Listeners will have the opportunity to learn about the remarkable journeys of these student athletes, gaining insight into their accomplishments, challenges, and aspirations. Tobacco Road is the largest provider of live high school athletic events in the Triad region of North Carolina (Greensboro/Winston Salem/High Point). Tobacco Road broadcasts over 100 live high school sporting events every school year including High School Football, Basketball and Baseball in Guilford and Forsyth Counties. The outlet currently powers sports “networks” for East Forsyth, Glenn and Grimsley high schools.
Tobacco Road also is the home for North Carolina A&T Athletics, Charlotte Hornets Radio Network and numerous podcasts and live sports shows originating from the triad for a more local feel to sports coverage.
The collaboration between FCA and SportsCarolinaMonthly.com represents a shared commitment to honoring the values of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership embodied by high school athletes. By shining a spotlight on these exemplary individuals, the initiative aims to inspire the next generation of athletes to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
As the countdown to the 2024-25 school year begins, anticipation is building for the debut of the High School Athletes of the Week program. With the support of FCA, SportsCarolinaMonthly.com, and Tobacco Road Sports Radio, the local community is poised to celebrate the achievements of its young athletes and embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and faith.
