Duke falls on the road to Miami 77-75

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Duke trimmed a five-point deficit with 41 seconds remaining to two with four seconds left, but the Blue Devils were unable to get a shot off as time expired in a 77-75 loss at Miami on Monday night.

The Blue Devils (7-6, 5-4 ACC) found themselves on the wrong side of a back-and-forth contest that featured five ties and 20 lead changes. After Duke took a 35-33 lead into the break, the Hurricanes (7-10, 3-9 ACC) shot .607 from the field in the second half to regain control. Sophomore Matthew Hurt led the Blue Devils with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting.

Fellow sophomore Wendell Moore Jr., added 18 points and six rebounds, while freshman Jalen Johnson scored 13 with five boards. Elijah Oyaniyi netted a team-high 21 points for Miami, shooting 8-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range while bringing down seven rebounds. Isaiah Wong and Anthony Walker chipped in 16 points each for the Hurricanes.

Duke was dealt its third consecutive road loss and saw its two-game winning streak snapped.

The Blue Devils look to return to form when they host rival North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Miami hosts No. 16 Virginia Tech on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
