Duke defeats Georgia Tech 75-68

Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman Jalen Johnson converted a pair of three-point plays and Duke hit key free throws in the final minutes to pull away from Georgia Tech, 75-68, Tuesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

After the Yellow Jackets grabbed their first lead of the second half with 3:48 remaining, Johnson responded with a basket while being fouled on back-to-back possessions. Senior Jordan Goldwire secured an offensive rebound off a Duke free throw miss with 18 ticks left to ice the game for the Blue Devils (6-5, 4-3 ACC), who snapped a three-game skid in their first game at Cameron in over two weeks.

Johnson finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go with six rebounds, while Goldwire scored 11 points off the bench and dished out seven assists with just one turnover. Freshman DJ Steward went 3-of-6 from three-point range and converted all six of his free throw attempts in recording a team-high 19 points.

Jose Alvarado scored 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting to pace Georgia Tech (7-5, 3-3 ACC). Moses Wright registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards.
