The Carolina Panthers tried hard to forget the first six weeks of the NFL Season in three excitable hours on Sunday by beating the Arizona Cardinals, 30-20. With the win, the Panthers have created hope that the season is far from finished. The Panthers may have fallen out of fan favorite Super Bowl Picks for this year, but turned in their best performance of the season.
The Panthers achieved their second victory of the year. Last year the Panthers were undefeated before Halloween. Still the Panthers are in the position of 2-5 and they were anxious moments in the second half.
The Carolina Panthers jumped out to a 24-0 in the second quarter. From this point of time Panthers never allowed the Cardinals closer than 10 points.
Jonathan Stewart led the ground assault and managed to score two touchdowns. Carolina also managed to get a defensive countdown by the help of iffy call. In the first four minutes, Thomas Davis scored on a Carson Palmer fumble for the first touchdown in his 12 year career. The Panthers were up 7-0 before Cam Newton took a snap.
The Panthers defense held Arizona running back David Johnson to 10 rushes for 24 yards. Arizona also committed a bucket load of penalties throughout the game, killing multiple drives. The Panthers resembled on Sunday the team that defeated the Cardinals in the NFC Championship game a year ago.
Kony Ealy made a game sealing interception for Carolina.
Ron Rivera, coach of the Panthers, called it huge and also spoke of Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, who made noise with three sacks Sunday.
After the game, at the press conference, Cam Newton showed his anger by expressing that the low hit could have broken his knee. But, otherwise the Panthers were in high spirits heading to face the Rams next Sunday.
