Carolina Panthers Make Decision On Christian McCaffrey’s Contract

By Matt Audilet The Carolina Panthers have reconstructed Christian McCaffrey’s contract in order to clear $5.5 million in cap space heading into the 2022 season, per NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero. McCaffrey signed a four-year, $64 million extension with the Panthers in the spring of 2020. Since then, he’s taken the field for just 10 games. McCaffrey’s name was mentioned in possible trade talks earlier this offseason, but this contract move likely means the Panthers are hanging onto their superstar running back through at least the 2022 season.
