Tobacco Road Sports Radio announced on Monday that it has landed a broadcast deal with the Carolina Cobras from the National Arena League to broadcast their 2022 schedule on Tobacco Road Sports Radio. The entire home and away schedule will be broadcasted on Saturday nights live starting in April.
“We are super excited to add Carolina Cobras games to our growing list of programming,” said Tobacco Road owner Desmond Johnson. “We strive to position Tobacco Road as the #1 place to find local sports games paired with locally based sports talk in the Triad and adding a championship program like the Cobras only elevates Tobacco Road higher in the minds of sports fans in the Triad going forward in 2022 and beyond. We cant wait to get started.”
The deal also will bring a weekly Coaches show with Cobras Head Coach/GM Josh Resignalo that will air weekly on TobaccoRoadSportsRadio.com as well as exclusive coverage of the season via SportsCarolina Monthly.
The Broadcast team will be a rotating group of talent associated with Tobacco Road including Ryan Stone, JP Mundy, Brett Wiseman and Voice of the North Carolina A&T Aggies Spencer Turkin.
Resignalo released the following statement after the announcement. ” I am excited for the opportunity to work with Desmond and Tobacco Road Sports Radio for this upcoming season. We have many things lined up for an exciting season for Cobra Nation. We started our partnership this High School Football season by doing a player of the week each week for the Triad High Schools. It was a huge success and we will be working on quite a few projects in 2022. Not only will TRSR broadcast our home games but also our away games. Which for Cobra Nation will be exciting to hear about the team on the road with that home feel.”
The Cobras began play in the NAL in 2018 and won the NAL championship in its inaugural season. The Cobras made the NAL championship again the following year in 2019. The home games are played at the Greensboro Coliseum. SportsCarolina Monthly has also announced they will have discounted season ticket and single game ticket packages available via their “Triad Hot Deals” brand.
Tobacco Road Sports Radio was launched by Johnson, who was the former Creative Director/Programming Manager for WSJS Sports through Nov 2019. TRSR debuted Labor Day weekend 2020. Since its debut, it has announced broadcast deals with Southern Broadcasting, LLC for High School Football Game of the Week broadcasts as well as additional platforms for two of its more popular sports talk shows. Franchise Players with JP Mundy and Ryan Stone airs on WTOB 980am/93.7fm and WCOG 1320am every Friday evening at 6pm. The Rundown with Desmond Johnson airs live every Saturday morning at 10am on WWBG 1470am. All broadcasts are simulcast on TobaccoRoadSportsRadio.com and available via laptop, phone, tablet or any streaming device. Tobacco Road also boasts a large podcast network where many of their weekly episodes and games are stored via Spotify, Tunein, Google Play, iTunes and more.
