Southwest Guilford High School (SW Guilford) and Tobacco Road Sports Radio (TRSR) announced a new partnership today that will bring live broadcasts of high school athletics to the community. For the 2024-25 school year, TRSR will serve as the official radio broadcaster for SW Guilford’s home varsity football games, as well as home men’s and women’s basketball games.
“SW Guilford is very excited to announce our partnership for football and potential basketball season for all home games this fall/winter. Our partnership will give live broadcasts to our NFHS Live Stream network for all home games.,” said Cowboys Athletic Director Brindon Christman. “This adds a second dimension to our games and what a great way to get positive exposure for our student athletes and football and basketball programs.”
TRSR, known as the Triad’s home for high school sports, is excited to welcome Southwest Guilford to its roster of partner schools. “We’re committed to bringing the best in high school sports coverage to our Triad listeners,” said Desmond Johnson, owner of Tobacco Road Sports Radio. “Adding Southwest Guilford, one of the largest 4A schools in the Triad, and our first in the High Point area is huge for TRSR as well as sports fans in the Triad. Welcome to the family, Cowboy nation!”
All broadcasts will be streamed live online through the TRSR website and the Southwest Guilford NFHS Video Network. Specific broadcast details and schedules will be announced closer to the start of the fall sports season.
The partnership also includes a live weekly coaches show where Southwest Guilford players, coaches and fans can meet and greet with the team each week and participate in the live show for Head Coach Marlon White and his staff. Location for the weekly coaches show will be announced at a later date.
“It is a great opportunity to be working with Tobacco Road Sports this upcoming season,” said Coach White. “For the past two years we have revamped our social media platforms with great success and adding a top-notch radio broadcast will give our student-athletes more exposure.”
Coach White continued, “We are looking forward to this partnership and giving our listening audience a quality broadcast they will be excited to tune into every Friday night.”
This partnership marks a significant step for Southwest Guilford athletics, offering fans a convenient way to follow their favorite teams, even if they can’t make it to the games in person. With TRSR’s experience in high school sports broadcasting, fans can expect high-quality coverage that captures all the excitement of Southwest Guilford athletics.
Southwest Guilford joins Metro 4A conference rival Grimsley on Tobacco Road in Guilford County, while East Forsyth, and Glenn have networks in Forsyth County with Tobacco Road Sports Radio, broadcasting a variety of live High School sports during the school year including Football, Basketball, Baseball and Softball.
Games can be accessed via TobaccoRoadSportsRadio.com and the school NFHS Video feed. Select Southwest Guilford Football games will be broadcasted via WCOG 105.3fm/1320am in Greensboro on the Guilford County Game of the Week. The full 2024-25 WCOG Broadcast Schedule will be revealed late July.
