After a rain out last week, drivers and fans were eager to return to racing at the Madhouse. There were light showers as fans began to pack in, but luckily the rain passed and the Colors Edge Sportsman 100 would go on as planned.
The Law Offices of John Barrow Street Stock Series would kick the night off with David Creed crossing the finish line first. But unfortunately Creed was disqualified after post-race inspections, giving the win to Brian Wall. Giving Wall his second win of the season. Kenny Bost second, Bryan Sykes third, Austin Harris fourth and finishing fifth Austin Jones.
Next up would be the first of two modified races. Tim Brown would continue his hot streak by qualifying on the pole. Brown would go on to win for the 94th time in his career. Burt Myers second, Brandon Ward third, John Holleman fourth, Lee Jeffreys fifth.
Now time for the main event the Colors Edge Sportsman 100. Spencer Martin would start first with Tommy Neal beside him after the top six redraw. Justin Taylor would grab the lead on lap five, Taylor would stay upfront and hold off Neal for majority if the race. With ten laps to go caution would fly as Tommy Neal would cut a tire and tangle with Amber Lynn. As the field would line back up Spencer Martin would go to the outside as Justin Taylor grabbed the inside in hopes to win. As time began to run out for Martin, he would make an aggressive move that sent Taylor spinning, putting Martin in first. However that was short-lived as Taylor would show his displeasure by ramming his car into Martin’s on the backstretch ending both drivers nights as both drivers would go on to make contact with each other again going on pit road. Kyle Southern moved up into the lead. Chaos would strike again as Southern and Zack Ore collide as they raced for the win collecting a handful of cars behind them and leaving a small lane open for Zack Clifton to make his way through on the inside. He would then advantage of the opportunity and go on to take the checkered flag. Picking up his second win of the season. Jac Creed finished second, Jeff Garrison finished third, Mitch Gales fourth and fifth goes to Michael Adams.
Second round of the twin 25’s for modified as Danny Bohn would start on the pole after the Madhouse scramble with Jason Myers outside pole. Bohn would go on to lead the whole race and hold off Myers. Brandon Ward third, Chris Fleming fourth and fifth Danny Propst.
Grayson Keaton and Issac Harris would win Stadium Stock.
Make sure you come out Saturday, July 31, as it will be the annual Thunder Road Grill Stadium Stock 50 (the longest and most prestigious race of the year for
the Stadium Stock cars) Plus there will be two twin 25’s for Modifieds, along with Sportsman, and Street Stock Division. And the night will end with a blast from the past as the Classic Modifieds compete
