First and foremost, we would like to send condolences to Jeff Amernick and his family, as they are dealing with the loss of loved one.
We are four weeks in at the Madhouse. Tempers are beginning to heat up, as we head into a Fourth of July break. Fans got to witness a legend come out of retirement, a 100 lapper event go into triple overtime, a few first time winners and a former champion picking up right where he left off back in 2019. And of course “Fire in the Sky” ,as Pyrotechnic Parachuters would jump and land in the middle of the track onto the football field.
Street Stock division would kick things off first, as Brian Wall would start on the pole. Wall would lead the first few laps until Jeremy Warren would take the lead and go on to lead until a caution came out on lap 16 when Conner Shaw spun out. Warren would restart in the lead going into turn two. Warren would get turned as Christian Joyce would take the lead and go on to lead the last three laps. Gerald Robinson Jr. second, Brian Wall third, Billy Gregg fourth and Bryan Sykes would finish fifth.
Next up would be the first of two modified races. Burt Myers and Tim Brown would start on the first row. Former champion Junior Miller would make his return to the track also. Burt Myers would lead flag to flag with Brown finishing right on his bumper, making it Myers 83rd career win. Myers is now just nine wins away from Brown’s 92 career wins. It was Myers first win since August of 2019. Jason Myers third, Lee Jeffreys fourth, and fifth would go to Chris Fleming.
Now time for the nights main event The Great Clips Sportsman 100, one of the crown jewel races in the McDowell Heating & Air Sportsman Division. Sterling Plemmons and Justin Taylor would start on your front row. Taylor would jump out to an early lead, he would go on to lead for most of the first half. Contact between Taylor and Amber Lynn caused Taylor to spin. Spencer Martin would take the lead and go on to lead the remainder of the race, Martin would pick up his first win at the track since 2018 when he won in the John Barrow Street Stock Series. Martin had to hold off a hard charging Amber Lynn, who would get involved in multiple incidents causing her to go to the back and work her way back up through the field. Zack Ore would finish third, Robbie Brewer fourth and fifth Kyle Southern.
After a redraw, John Holleman IV would start on the pole with Daniel Beeson starting second. It wouldn’t take long until the first caution of this race would come out from contact between Randy Butner and Michael Clifton. Clifton would spin and get into Danny Bohn, landing Bohn car to go over the fence. Holleman would go on to pick up his second win of the season and dedicate it to WXII cameraman Jeff Amernick. Daniel Beeson would second, Joseph “Bobo” Brown third, fourth James Civali and fifth to John Smith. Junior Miller would end his night finishing in the top ten in his second race, as fan would see both Jr Miller and Jason Myers make contact after the race leading to both drivers confronting each other.
Luke Smith and Kyler Staley would pick up their first career wins in the Stadium Stock division.
As the Madhouse will take a week off to celebrate the Fourth of July next week. Make sure you come out July 10th for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 100, a 100-lapper for Modifieds as there will be a second Fans’ Challenge of the year with a bonus on the line. Two 20-lap Sportsman races, a 20-lap Street Stock races, and two 15-lap Stadium Stock races. As it will also be double points night once again for all divisions.
