As Week Three in the Madhouse wraps up, right around 11,000 fans would witness the People’s Champ return to victory lane after winless drought, several drivers were able to pick up their second win of the year, and a rookie raced his way through the field to collect a big paycheck as he took the fan challenge. Plus, a former winner ends his winless streak after a late race pass for the lead.
Bowman Gray Street Stock Division got things rolling to kick the night off, as Brian Wall would start on the pole and lead flag to flag to end his drought of wins. The win was a little bit more special for Wall, as it was exactly 11 years to the day that he won for the first time in the division.
Next up Bowman Gray Sportsman Division would get going as Jac Creed would grab the pole and, just like Wall, would lead flag to flag and pick up his second win of the season and first win on Father’s Day weekend holding off Michael Adams.
Rolling off next would be the Bowman Gray Modified division, as it was the nights main event on the Kevin Powell 100. Tim Brown, John Holleman, Jonathan Brown and Burt Myers had the four fastest cars. While four of the five drivers would say no to the fan challenge rookie driver Holleman stepped up to the plate and said yes to the challenge. This would mean he would give up his starting spot to start last. Meanwhile the whole field would do a invert, leaving Lee Jeffreys starting first. As Jeffreys would lead 96 of the 100 laps as Jason Myers would sneak by on a late race restart giving Myers 50th career win and 34th in the Modified Division. The win would also end Myers winless streak dating back to August of 2018.
In the second of the two Sportsman races, Ross “Boo Boo” Dalton started off on the pole. Boo Boo would lead until Tommy “Tiger” Neal would pass him and go on to win his second race of the season and 50th of his career holding off Justin Taylor.
Justin Owens and Brandon Brendle would go on to pick up wins in the Bowman Gray Stadium Stock Division.
