Bowman Gray Q&A: Kyler Staley

Ladies and Gentleman welcome to another Installation of Driver Q&A’s as I had the opportunity to catch up Stadium Stock driver Kyler Staley. In just six seasons over at Bowman Gray Kyler has one career win, eight top fives and a total of 31 career top tens 55 starts.

Q: After a few years and more experience being behind the wheel, what would you say holds your love/attention about racing?

A: The fans at the racetrack is what keeps me racing whether they hate me or love me they are there watching.

Q: You’ve got your first win under your belt, how aggressively would you say are to go after that next win?

A: I’m gonna do what I got to do to win, they don’t come easy.

Q: Our Bowman Gray careers started the same year, so I’ve seen you grow as a driver and become a competitor. Six years later is there anything you would tell rookie Kyler or at least is there something you would do differently to get where you are today?

A: Don’t take anything from anybody on the racetrack bring your friends with you to the track

Q: When we’ve talked in the past you mentioned if you ever moved up it would be Street Stock. Do you see a move up in the near future?

A: Yes I’m working on getting a car for street next year

Q: Some drivers have a story behind the number they run, Is there a story behind the 31? I know earlier in your career you ran the number 3.

A: It was my dads (Zack Staley) number, and when he quit running mini stock I took over it. I didn’t want anybody else to have it.

Q: What motivates you to be a better driver each race?

A: Just getting good runs every week and bringing car home in one piece.

Q: Obviously, you have the same goals and expectations as every other driver. But is there one in particular goal/expectation you have set for yourself this season??

A: Get as many wins as I can and finish as high in points as I can.

Q: You’ve raced with the A race and the B race, of all the drivers in your career who would you say you’ve enjoyed racing with and who do you enjoy racing with these days?

A: My dad is my favorite to race with but these days would probably be Wyatt Sapp and Blaine Curry. We all race each other clean and with respect.

Last but not least Kyler would like to give a special thanks to his dad and Tera, Nana and Papa, his girlfriend Makylin, Dominick Lumley, Kenny Flippin, Maranda and BJ, Lainey, Tanner, Oliver, and Braden. As well as his sponsors.
