SMACKDOWN is in Title Town, USA otherwise known as Green Bay, Wisconsin tonight and the night opens with Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth backstage and Ellsworth thanking Ambrose for all he’s done for him. Ellsworth then asks Ambrose if he can be in his corner for the main event between Ambrose and Ellsworth and Ambrose tells him no.

Bray Wyatt comes out next and they recap the “coffin match” last week and Kane appearing out of the coffin. Kane comes out and it’s a one on one match up with Wyatt and Kane in a brawler special. As Kane is preparing to choke slam Wyatt on a table, the lights go out and Luke Harper appears and they attack Kane.

Randy Orton comes in, dressed in black, and acts as if he’s there to save Kane and then hits Kane with the RKO. Staring at Wyatt, he slithers out of the ring and walks off to the crowd’s disbelief.

Promo’s next with WWE World Champ, AJ Styles talking about James Ellsworth but blaming Dean Ambrose.

An in ring interview is next with the returning WWE SMACKDOWN Ladies Champ Becky Lynch about to be interviewed by Renee Young, when Alexa Bliss comes out and calls her “yellow” and said she was avoiding her match with Bliss. Bliss attacked Lynch and then went to the bell keepers area and pulled out a can of yellow spray paint and painted a yellow streak down Lynch’s back.

Tag match is next as it’s a SURVIVOR SERIES qualifying match as the Hype Bros face off against The Ascension and The Hype Bros are the first qualified team for SMACKDOWN, hitting the Hype Ryder to get the victory.

Promo with Randy Orton follows as Orton is being asked to defend his actions. Orton simply says “If you can’t beat them, join them”.
Promo with GM Daniel Bryan and Natalya follows with Natalya again asking to captain the Ladies team. Bryan responds that she will have a match with Nikki Bella next and that the winner will captain SMACKDOWN’s team but that the loser will not be on the team.

The match is back and forth but Nikki gets the win by hooking Natalya in one of her boyfriend’s moves, the STF. Afterwards, Nikki is attacked by Carmella who lands the Bella Buster finisher on Nikki.

Promo with Dean Ambrose follows discussing AJ Styles.

The Miz with Marise and the Spirit Squad are doing an in ring promo and the Miz is talking about how he feels sorry for the WWE Legends as the reign of Dolph Ziglar is destroying the Intercontinental title’s legacy. Ziglar comes out and it looks like they’re all going to attack Ziglar when the SMACKDOWN tag champs, Rhyno and Heath Slater come out to even it up. Miz challenges Rhyno and Slater to face the Spirit Squad for the titles and while Slater is reluctant, Rhyno accepts and the match is on. Slater knocked Spirit Squad Kenny into the Miz, who’s standing at ringside while Rhyno hits the GORE for the win.

An announcement follows that the Goldberg/Brock Lesnar match will happen at SURVIVOR SERIES which is strange as they’re on the RAW brand.

Back stage, James Ellsworth is still expressing his gratitude to Dean Ambrose, who finally says that Ellsworth can be in his corner for the main event.

So, it’s AJ Styles verses Dean Ambrose with James Ellsworth at ringside and it’s a good match as AJ pushes Ellsworth into the stairs but he’s attended to by Ambrose which allows AJ to attack Ambrose.

Later, AJ delivers a devastating dropkick thru the ropes into Ellsworth’s face, laying him out. As he re-enters the ring, Ambrose goes for the Dirty Deeds and AJ counters it but ends out being tossed over the ropes. Ellsworth is coming to and “Hulk’s” up and in plain view of Ambrose and the referee, delivers a Superkick to AJ’s chin. With Ambrose pleading, the referee has no choice but to disqualify Ambrose and Ellsworth knows he screwed up. Worry is all over his face and Ambrose is in disbelief. Obviously, they’re gonna run with this for a while so we’ll see how Ellsworth evolves in this angle. It’s fun to watch though.

It seems like SMACKDOWN spent more time tonight plugging Goldberg/Lesner and HELL IN A CELL than promoting their own brand, other than the Orton turn and the Ellsworth saga. But with weeks until their next Pay Per View, I guess it’s OK. Tune into the WWE Network this Sunday for HELL IN A CELL!
