ELLSWORTH MANIA RUNS WILD!

By Tarron Coalson

SMACKDOWN LIVE comes to us from Newark, New Jersey this evening and starts with the new WWE darling, James Ellsworth coming to the ring and thanking the fans. He then wants to tell them good bye as he’s leaving because of his screw up last week in the Dean Ambrose/AJ Styles match.

Ellsworth calls out Dean Ambrose to tell him he’s sorry. He says that Ambrose helped him to two wins over the World Champ, AJ Styles and that he repayed him by costing him the match last week.

AJ Styles comes out to tell Ellsworth that it’s Dean Ambrose, who is using him. Styles said he was going to take it easy on Ellsworth but because of Ambrose pushing AJ, it made the beatings more severe.

AJ and Ambrose start pushing and Ellsworth gets between them trying to separate the two. AJ then pushes Ellsworth into Ambrose and then hits Ambrose with the Phenomenal Forearm, laying out Ambrose with a horrified Ellsworth looking on.

A recap of the Randy Orton/Bray Wyatt and Kane situation follows and then Randy Orton is taking on Kane in a one on one match.

Wyatt and Luke Harper come to ringside and Kane is fighting all three men. As he re-enters the ring, Orton hits him with an RKO to get the win. Wyatt and Harper still aren’t sure what to think about the “new” Randy Orton. But then, Orton pushes Kane into a waiting Bray Wyatt’s grasp and he delivers Sister Abigail to Kane, leaving the crowd stunned again.

A pretty neat Baron Corbin video follows..

Next up is a Ladies tag team match with the SMACKDOWN ladies captain, Nikki Bella and the ladies SMACKDOWN champ Becky Lynch going against Carmella and Alexa Bliss. Bella gets thrown from the ring and Bliss catches Lynch with an eye rake and then a DDT to get the win.

Afterwards, Carmella and Bliss interview themselves in the ring. Carmella threatening the RAW ladies champ Charlotte, which is laughable, and Bliss telling the world that next week in Scotland, she’s taking the SMACKDOWN ladies title from Becky Lynch.

Promo with Shane McMahon and the General Manager Daniel Bryan is next and Natalya interrupts them and asked to be named coach of the ladies SMACKDOWN team, which surprisingly, they say Yes! Yes! Yes!

A qualifying tag team match is next between The Spirit Squad and American Alpha. This one is over quickly as American Alpha gets the win and a spot on SMACKDOWN’S SURVIVOR SERIES team.

Then, they promo the Goldberg/Rusev/Paul Heyman situation that happened Monday night on RAW but since it’s a combined roster for SURVIVOR SERIES, they’re promoting Goldberg verses Lesnar as well.

MIZ TV is up next and his guest is the General Manager, Daniel Bryan. There’s a long history of bad blood between these two and it’s obvious that they don’t like each other. But, MIZ finally confronts Bryan on who will be on the men’s SMACKDOWN team for SURVIVOR SERIES and Bryan announces that it will be Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, Dean Ambrose and the World Champ, AJ Styles.

The Miz is incensed that he’s not on the team and confronts Bryan, who calls Miz a coward again and said they want fighters on their team. He tells Miz that Ziglar challenged him the previous week on SMACKDOWN and Miz refused. Miz calls Bryan a coward and Bryan starts throwing chairs on MIZ TV and then announces that the Intercontinental Champ, Dolph Ziglar will have an Open challenge for the IC title, which is accepted by the debuting Curt Hawkins, who gets Superkicked and pinned in seconds.

Afterwards, Ziglar announces that if any RAW superstar wanted to challenge him at SURVIVOR SERIES, there’s an open challenge for one night only, which sends The Miz into a fit!

Backstage, James Ellsworth is begging Dean Ambrose to let him come to ringside with him again for the match up with Styles and Ambrose telling him no and to stay away from the match.

A promo with Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Randy Orton follows with Orton saying he’s done trying to fight his darkness and that in darkness, he’s been shown the light.

Another tag team qualifying match featuring The Headbangers verses The Uso’s is next and as the previous tag match, the Uso’s make short work of the Headbangers to become members of the SMACKDOWN team for SURVIVOR SERIES.

The main event is next with AJ Styles taking on Dean Ambrose. If Ambrose wins, he becomes the number one contender again and it’s a pretty solid match..BUT THEN..James Ellsworth runs to ringside and almost causes Ambrose to lose as Styles hits a Pele kick for a near fall.

Ellsworth is then chased by security throughout the coliseum. As AJ comes back, Ellsworth returns, still being chased by security except AJ exits the ring and plows Ellsworth and knocks him over the announcers table in a vicious hit.

AJ sets up to deliver the Phenomenal Forearm and as he launches, Ambrose land a low kick and then a Dirty Deeds to get the victory.

Afterwards, security is dragging a smiling but half unconscious James Ellsworth up the ramp and Ambrose doesn’t know what to think.

The spots with Ellsworth are entertaining but you wonder where is leading. A Triple Threat match maybe?

I’m shocked by the announcement of the SURVIVOR SERIES main men’s team. Can’t believe John Cena, Dolph Ziglar and The Miz aren’t on the team. It seems to be setting SMACKDOWN up to take the loss on that match. Keep checking with Sportscarolina Monthly for WWE Recaps every week.
