Foxborough MASS—-There are many things that are uncertain in the NFL. Blowouts can turn into comebacks, favorites can become under dogs, and ANY team could make a run and take a shot at destiny. One thing is for certain at least for the past 15 years, is that you NEVER bet against Tom Brady and Bill Bellichick in the post season. Going into Saturday’s game, there were many questions concerning the New England Patriots. “Are they too banged up with injuries?” “Could this be the start of the downward trend for Brady and Bellicheck?” Lastly is it possible that the hottest team in the AFC (Kansas City) , winning their last 11 games be beat by a Patriots team who struggled to finished the season. There was a unanimous answer. that echoed all over the sports world at 7:30 on Saturday. In Brady we trust. Tom Brady along with as usual a next man up mentality Patriots team, won their AFC divisional game beating the Chiefs 27-20. 2 weeks off to rest, rehab, and prepare proved to be quite successful for New England.  While Julian Edelman looked to be nicked up still, It was the Brady and Gronk show for the first 3 quarters. Gronkowski looked as if he was re engineered machine being unstoppable with Yards after contact, dragging defenders. The Patriots struck first with a 8 yard TD pass from Brady to Gronk to go up 7-0. The Chiefs failed to get any momentum going due to tough man coverage by New England having to settle for back to back field goals in the first half. The Patriots moved the ball very well up the field, including a scramble by Brady that almost resulted in a TD, but Brady was knocked out at the 1 yard line. The Patriots went to score the next play. In addition to tough defensive pressure, by New England, the Chiefs also exhibited poor clock management. With their time of possession, Kansas City were either forced to punt the ball, settle for a field goal, or turn the ball over in the end zone by Kniles Davis. The turnover in the 3rd quarter would cost the Chiefs to give up another TD by the Patriots. The Chiefs left Rob Gronkowski open for a TD pass to allow New England to go up 21-6. Kansas City was finally able to score in the end zone by a sliding TD catch by Albert Winston. Continual poor clock management and Kansas City to not be aggressive with play calling were the Chiefs down fall. another pair of field goals and missed onside kick by sealed the game for New England.

Thanks to Brady, the return of receiver Julian Edelman and two touchdown catches from tight end Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots looked like a different offense than the unit that struggled down the stretch of the season. With the victory, Brady extended his NFL record for postseason wins to 22 also tying an NFL record of 30 post season games played. On Jan. 24, he will play in his 10th conference championship game, which is the most of any quarterback in the Super Bowl era. Against the Chiefs, Brady finished 28-of-42 for 302 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has played 17 career playoff games in which he threw two or more touchdowns, which is an NFL record (Brett Favre is second with 15). New England  goes on to their 5th straight AFC championship appearance, against the winner of Pittsburgh and Denver.
