The Old School at 2021 ACC Kickoff -Get Out (of) the Vote!

One of the more anticipated press releases from the ACC will come later this afternoon, after the league is done tallying the media votes for predicted order of finish, preseason player of the year, etc. All of the credentialed media receive a ballot, but it’s important to note that we are not required to submit one. This is important to note since there is always a decent amount of sports outrage when these things come out. A lot of the media in attendance are fan bloggers, running fan-centric sites for the different programs. Many put out quality content for their readers, but the point is that they are not the most objective outlets in the world. That’s why you’ll see some predictions today that may not make sense.

I, myself, stopped voting for these things a long time ago. I don’t know enough about all of these programs to make an objective decision. Like, I know a good deal about Wake and UNC but maybe nothing about FSU or Louisville. I can’t do it- it’s not fair. Case in point, when I ran Blogger So Dear (the SB Nation Wake Forest site) I bet Chip Patterson of CBSSports.com a steak dinner that Wake Forest would win more than 7 games. I think they won four.

Lesson learned.

Another thing- as I type this it is 11:25 and Dave Doeren is up at the podium. Not once have we heard the word “realignment” mentioned. I have to imagine at this point that Dabo Swinney will be the only one who might get a question about the national scene, since he’s really the only ACC coach who will be involved in the national scene by the end of this season. I just find it strange that the one thing that us in the gallery are talking about hasn’t been asked at all.
