The Panthers released veteran offensive lineman Michael Oher with a failed physical designation on Thursday, the team announced.

Oher signed a three-year extension with the Panthers last summer after his original two-year, $7 million deal with Carolina in 2015.

He started all 16 games for the Panthers in 2015, but was limited to three contests last season after he suffered a concussion that led to his placement on injured reserve. He had previously played with the Ravens and Titans.
