The version of Duke Men’s Basketball set to take the floor in a few days to start their Canadian tour will not be the same version as opening night.
Two of Duke’s heralded freshman class are nursing some nagging injuries and have been shelved for the 3 game Canadian your. Tre Jones and Cam Reddish will sit out the 3 game exhibition with Jones nursing an ailing hip and Reddish a groin.
In a Friday press call Coach K pointed out that freshmen R.J. Barrett works well and is most effective with the ball in his hands and that he would, during this tour, have the ball in his hands often. Barrett as well as fellow freshman Zion Williamson will all share ball handling duties presumably along with backup point guard sophomore Jordan Goldwire and guard Alex O’Connell.
The injuries to Jones are Reddish are not thought to be serious injuries and they should be ready to go by the start of the season. Duke is set to take the floor Wednesday, August 15th at Paramount Fine Foods Centre against the Ryerson University Rams.
