KINSTON, N.C. (April 18, 2018) – Winston-Salem cranked out a season-high 18 hits against Down East on Wednesday, taking the final game of its three-game set against the Wood Ducks 14-4 at Grainger Stadium.

The Dash’s (8-6) 14 runs were also the most scored by the team this season. Each starter had a hit in the series finale, while three players  – Micker AdolfoMitch Roman and Blake Rutherford – registered three-hit performances. Meanwhile, Alex CallZach Remillard and Yeyson Yrizarri each posted two hits, and Nate Nolan set a career-high with five RBIs.

Winston-Salem got the offense rolling in the second against Wood Ducks starter Edgar Arredondo (1-1). Yrizarri doubled to start the inning, and Remillard followed with a bunt single to put runners on the corners with nobody out. Nolan brought home the game’s first run on an RBI groundout, and Roman stroked his first hit of the day, an RBI double to right-center, to make it a 2-0 contest.

In the fourth, Call lined a two-run single to center to push the Dash’s lead to four. Arredondo picked up the loss in Wednesday’s effort, giving up 10 hits and four runs in four innings of work.

Dash right-hander Dylan Cease (2-1) held the Wood Ducks (7-7) without a hit through the first 3.2 innings, but he proceeded to give up a Charles Leblanc single and a Josh Altmann RBI double in the fourth to make it a three-run game.

Nolan increased the Dash’s lead in the fifth with his first High-A homer, a three-run shot to center against right-hander Cole Wiper, to give Winston-Salem a 7-1 advantage. However, Anderson Tejeda stroked a three-run homer of his own in the bottom of the fifth to bring the deficit back down to three.

Cease, who is the White Sox fifth-best prospect per MLB Pipeline, finished his third High-A outing by going five innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out six and walking two. Through three starts with the Dash, Cease is 2-1 with a 3.45 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched.

Winston-Salem’s lead would be safe, though, as the ballclub added two runs in the sixth. The Dash would add on two more runs in the eighth thanks to Roman’s two-run shot, and they scored three in the ninth via an Adolfo two-run double and a Yrizarri sacrifice fly.

The Dash now travel back to Winston-Salem to kick off a four-game homestand against the Salem Red Sox on Thursday at 7 p.m. Winston-Salem will send right-hander Ricardo Pinto (0-0, 11.12 ERA) to the bump against Salem righty Tanner Houck (0-1, 5.00 ERA). Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action on, and the TuneIn Radio App.

The homestand opener will be a Lowes Foods Thirsty Thursday, with select beers available for $1 through the seventh inning. Thursday’s home opener will also be a Pups in the Park outing, with lawn seats available for $8. Meanwhile, pooch passes are $5, and proceeds will benefit an animal-related charity.

The rest of the four-game set features a postgame fireworks show on Friday and a Lowes Foods Family Sunday. On top of that, kids can run the bases after each weekend game, presented by New Balance Winston-Salem. For tickets and more information, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit
