With K Academy underway and a host of future and past Duke players in attendence, several Duke recruits and holdovers have set in motion solid plans for development going into next season. R.J. Barrett in particular has been working with noted NBA skills coach Drew Hanlen, addressing his weaknesses. Several other Blue Devils including Tre Jones and Zion Williamson, both who are overcoming slight injuries. Joey Baker has also announced plans to attend USA U18 Training Camp from May 31-June 2.
Marques Bolden showed flashes of being able to be the low post presence Duke needs last year off the bench and has decided to stay in Durham during this summer to work on his game and conditioning after having surgery to repair a deviated septum. The junior center is going to need to not only step into a starting role but also a leadership role with the departure of senior guard Grayson Allen.
The Blue Devils also have a Canadian tour in the works that will have them playing exhibition contests between August 15th thru the 19th. Duke is set for a pair of contests at Hershey Centre in Toronto against Ryerson University on August 15 at 7 p.m. ET and the University of Toronto at 6 p.m. ET on August 17. The tour concludes in Montreal against McGill University at Place Bell on August 19 at 3 p.m. ET.
It’s still unclear if freshman Tre Jones, who is nursing an injury will be ready for the trip.
