August 1, 2019 (GREENSBORO, N.C.) – The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, today announced that BPR Properties, which represents Hilton and Marriott branded hotels, will present the Open Tryout for the second straight year. The 2019 Open Tryout is scheduled for Saturday, September 14, at the Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness at UNC Greensboro.
“We are excited to work with BPR Properties once again for our most anticipated event of the summer,” Swarm President Steve Swetoha said. “We are very fortunate to host the Open Tryout at UNC Greensboro for the fourth year in a row. With BPR Properties’ efforts, we remain dedicated to providing a first-class experience for all the talented players hoping to make the team.”
BPR Properties, which has local offices in High Point, will offer a special rate of $99 per night for Open Tryout participants at Hyatt Place Greensboro (1619 Stanley Road).
“We are excited to once again host the Greensboro Swarm Open Tryout participants,” BPR Properties Vice President of Sales and Marketing Kevin Dowdell said. “We look forward to having players at our Hyatt Place Greensboro location as they pursue the dream of playing professional basketball. We love to watch the Swarm and we are fortunate to have an organization like this in our community.”
Registration for the 2019 Open Tryout is now open. Detailed information and corresponding documents, including the special rate from BPR Properties, is on gsoswarm.com.
Including a $200 nonrefundable fee, players who are interested in trying out must submit all documentation by Monday, September 9. Space permitting, walk-up registration will be accepted the day of for a fee of $250. Players are encouraged register as soon as possible as space is limited.
NBA G League local tryouts offer players the opportunity to showcase their talents in from of Swarm and Charlotte Hornets basketball operations personnel. Prospects can earn an NBA G League contract and invitation to the Swarm’s training camp in the fall.
