Bowman Gray Racing – Week 4 Recap

Cody Heacox by Cody Heacox
You can go ahead and place Bowman Gray Racing week four officially into the history books, although it wasn’t the usual hot Saturday night.  But it was great weather for some Saturday night short track action over at the Madhouse, as Street Stock would take center stage in the biggest event of the year for the division in the Whelen Street Stock 50, followed by two 25 lap Modified races, two 20 lap Sportsman races, Stadium Stock, and a classic modified race.

Here’s your week four recap…
As for the first event of the evening would be Stadium Stock would start the night off with a win from Chris Allison who would hold off Stephen Sanders in a photo finish to pick up win #2 for him this season.

Up Next, would be the first of two Sportsman races as Zack Clifton and Michael Adams would start on the front row, for the first lap Adams and Clifton battled for the lead until Adams finally got by and would hold on to the lead for the remaining twenty laps from that point on winning his first race of the year. Zack Clifton would bring it home second, Dylan Ward third, Tommy Neal fourth and rounding out your top 5 would be Justin Taylor.

As Tim Brown and Lee Jeffreys would roll off 1-2 in the first 25 lapper. Brown would make it look easy by winning #81 and his first race of the year. Bobby Measmer Jr would come home second, Lee Jeffreys third, Randy Butner fourth and rounding out the top 5 Burt Myers.

After winning first race of the night Michael Adams would redraw eighth, which would put Robbie Brewer on pole for the second Sportsman race. While the first race didn’t have much drama, the second race sure had some as Zack Clifton and Tommy Neal would make contact while battling for position. As Tommy would get spun out, Neal would then express his frustration with Clifton right before the restart, Neal would catch up to Clifton and drill Clifton, causing both cars to spin. Although Clifton was able to bring home a third place finish, that wasn’t all that was going on as Derek Stoltz and John Holleman would put on a show as the two would battle it out for the fourth time this year for the win. While Derek Stoltz would pick up his second win of the year. And once again Holleman will be runner-up, Michael Adams fourth and Dylan Ward would end up fifth.
As the second Modified race rolled around, while Brody Jones and Jonathan Brown would be on the front row, While Jon Boy would take the lead early before an early pile up involving Jason Myers and Tim Brown. Once they went back racing Brown would then hold off Jones for the full twenty-five laps to bring home his first win in years. pole-sitter Brody Jones would come in second, Randy Butner third, Burt Myers fourth and Bobby Measmer Jr. would round out your top 5.

Now for the main event as the Street Stock would host the Whelen Street Stock 50. As Jac Creed would qualify on the pole but due to after tech inspection and being disqualified he would move to the rear. Amber Lynn, the second fastest qualifier, would then be awarded the pole and Taylor Robbins would move to second place making it a female front row. While drivers would redraw and Brian Wall would then be the new pole sitter and Taylor Robbins would start second. Things would get interesting early as Amber Lynn and Taylor Robbins would make contact that would end Robbins night. A long green flag run Jac Creed would catch Brian Wall and make a pass for the lead. Brian Wall would lose it. Contact between Derrick Rice and Fletcher Whaley would leave the #20 of Derrick Rice’s on the front hood of Fletcher Whaley #52. After a late single file restart with Creed and Lynn would pull away, As Amber Lynn would come up short, Jac Creed would pick up a win after having to start in the rear, Jeremy Warren third, Bryan Sykes fourth and Gerald Robinson Jr coming home with a top 5.

Grayson Keaton would get his first ever win at the Madhouse as Chase Hunt would be runner up for the second Stadium Stock.
Be sure you come and check out next week action as it’ll be a CRASH FEST as there will be two 20 lap Modified races, two 20 lap Sportsman races, plus Street Stock, and Stadium Stock along with a Skid Race, Chain Race and Demolition Derby.
